Memory Bridge Curriculum

The Memory Bridge Initiative educates junior high and high school students about Alzheimer’s disease and related issues, pairing each student with a person living with Alzheimer’s disease. The program helps students develop emotional and social intelligence while keeping individuals with Alzheimer’s disease in long-term care facilities meaningfully connected to people in their community.

Founded in 2003, the Initiative served over 750 students and in the Chicago area.  In order to support our classes, Memory Bridge has created a complete curriculum with lesson plans and activities to help students and other volunteers understand how to communicate with people with dementia.

In 2006, the Memory Bridge Curriculum won the Innovative Program Award from the Illinois Council on Long Term Care.
